G'day operators. Nano here with your sitrep.
If you’ve been grinding the trenches of Season 2, it’s time to reassess your deployment schedule. Bulkhead is cutting Season 2 short, and Season 3 is incoming fast.
Here is the intel on the next wipe, straight from the developer’s new podcast and community chatter.
Season 3 Targets November 12
Season 2 of WARDOGS is ending early to give the player base a clean slate. According to a Steam review reply on October 23 by brammflakes - an account tagged as a developer and sharing the name of Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer - Season 3 has been brought forward to November 12.
While there is no official Steam news post or X announcement yet, screenshots of this reply sparked a massive thread on r/WarDogs, passing 1,900 comments in a single day. PCGamesN also reported the November 12 date on October 25. For now, we are classifying this date as Reported until official patch notes drop.
However, the math lines up. On the first episode of The Hot Zone, Bulkhead's new developer podcast announced October 23, the team confirmed Season 2 would run for four to five weeks instead of the usual six to eight. With Season 2 launching October 15, a four-week deployment lands exactly on November 12.
The End of the Monthly Grind
How long will seasons last after Season 3? You can expect to be boots on the ground for about three months per season, featuring a smaller update at the halfway mark.
On the podcast, Bulkhead admitted that monthly seasons are simply unsustainable for the studio. Season 2 was overloaded because the fear of running out of content led the devs to push too much into a single update, causing a noticeable drop in quality.
Make no mistake: your levels and cash will reset when Season 3 starts. If you were on the fence about pushing your Season 2 grind, you’ve only got about two and a half weeks left in the chamber.
Season 2 Post-Action Report: The Numbers
The Hot Zone podcast gave us our first raw, confirmed data on the Season 2 launch straight from Bulkhead:
Player Count: Season 1 saw about 3.4 to 3.5 million players. Season 2 hit 1.5 million logins in the first 24 hours alone.
Vehicle Dominance: The share of players driving spiked from 9% in Season 1 to a staggering 44% on Season 2's day one.
The Grind: The top 25% of players levelled up 2.4 times faster in Season 2 compared to the Season 1 baseline.
The faster progression was a tactical fix to a major Season 1 casualty rate. In the first season, massive numbers of players went AWOL at levels 9 and 14 - long before their specialized roles unlocked at level 20. Only about 70,000 players ever reached the level 35 cap.
Bulkhead also cleared the air on the launch-day outrage. The controversial Blue Team cash and XP bonus was only 2.5% and was deactivated after about ten hours. As for the tanks? Fewer than 400 players actually abused the driver exploit, but because their armor saturated an estimated 30–40% of active matches, the panic that "tanks are already here" spread like wildfire.
Looking Ahead: Intel and Skills
We finally have a timeline for the highly anticipated Intel system. Bulkhead confirmed on the podcast that Intel is targeting Q2 2027.
Intel will act as a seasonal resource earned at a daily pace. It is uncapped, meaning heavy grinders will still progress, albeit at a slower rate. Crucially, you can bank Intel if you miss days offline and spend it on specific gear. If you main a sniper, you can unlock your preferred rifle directly without slogging through the rest of the tech tree.
Skills will follow a similar blueprint. Earning Role XP will grant points for per-role skill trees, offering small passive bonuses and major capstones. Better yet, Skills will persist across seasonal wipes. There is no confirmed release date for this system yet.
What Else is Coming (And What is Undecided)
Limited Mode Servers: According to developer replies (reported), Season 3 will introduce Limited Mode servers featuring no power weapons and no vehicles. The devs confirmed on the podcast that infrared gear will also be restricted from this mode.
Infrared Rangefinders: Currently undecided. The raw opinion of most podcast developers is that they need a rework or removal-such as making trees and bushes block the thermal signature-but no hard decision has been made.
Tanks: With 44% of players driving, the current armor meta is unsustainable. Bulkhead is weighing options, including pushing tanks much deeper into the progression tree, but nothing is finalized.
New Map: A new AO is in the works featuring a multi-floor hospital, high verticality, and a layout that is half-flat, half-bowl. No name or release date has been issued.
Full Release: The studio confirmed the full 1.0 release is still mapped out for 2028, warning that the game's price will increase over time as development continues.
Unchanged Variables
As we prep for Season 3, a few things remain static. Bulkhead has not yet posted official Season 3 patch notes or confirmed the date on the Steam news hub. The flying-vehicle exploit, originally promised to be patched on October 20, still has no announced fix.
The game remains priced at $24.99 USD on Steam. A developer vlog previewing Season 3 is promised for the week of October 26. OCE DOGS will update your comms the second the date goes official. Stay frosty.
